"Dr. Katz: Professional Therapist" aired on Comedy Central from 1995 to 1999, going through 6 seasons and 78 episodes (plus 3 unaired episodes). The show was the first major use of Squigglevision, also used in the series 'Squigglevision' (a.k.a. 'Science Court') and in the first season of 'Home Movies'. The show follows the life of Dr. Katz, as he attempts to provide direction for his 20-something son Ben (voiced by H. Jon Benjamin) who lives at home, and as he provides therapy for real-life comedians who stop in during each episode.

Original Airdate: November 3, 1996
Patients: David Feldman, Jeff Stilson, Kathy Griffin
Brief Synopsis: In his younger (hippie) days, Dr. Katz was a folk singer with Sharon Koppleman, who was also his lover.
14 episodes were released by Rhino Records, on VHS, 2 of which are out of print (part of a release that otherwise duplicated another still in-print release, for whatever reason). We have sources for 39 of the remaining episodes. 27 episodes still need sources, and if this becomes a DAP, we're looking for contributors. 3 episodes were never aired, apparently; if anyone has further information on these, please contact us.
The sources are not perfect, but the animation style of 'Dr. Katz' allows recovery of the original video through appropriate filtering. The audio on many of the current sources is quite problematic, but careful filtering seems to clean it up fairly well. Please separately evaluate the appropriateness of the show and the quality of this encode for DAP consideration. Any comments or suggestions on the encode quality would be greatly appreciated.

Keep the Dr. Katz episodes coming. Some of the stand-up comics are funny, some get a little tiring, but this show is worth watching just for all the moments with Ben.

Thank god this one is getting off the ground. I thought about coding some a while ago but was satiated by a few episodes I found on Kazaa. To whoever is in charge of this DAP, though, e-mail me (SmurfCommie@yahoo.com), because I know someone who has every episode on VHS. I don't know what kind of quality they are, but it would be a way to fill in the holes. Last I checked he was charging 40 dollars for the complete set on tape. Once again, thanks for this show.

One of my favorite shows ever! I haven't seen this in years. One of H. Jon Benjamin's finest moments. If someone could get these up that would be awesome!

Which episodes still need sources? I have all but about six or seven episodes of this show on VHS (tape broke for #310-313, 401-402) . The quality is admittedly uneven--some shows that I traded for have pretty weak video(SLP dubbed onto SP), some are SP with good video but mono audio(had an older VCR at the time), a few need CoolEdit's hiss reduction--but if you post the episodes you need, I'd be willing to help fill in whatever gaps I can.
